Inclusive Education
West Island School is committed to fostering an inclusive, welcoming environment that celebrates learning diversity. We encourage students to embrace their uniqueness and learn from one another. Through adaptive teaching strategies and dedicated support teams, we create the conditions for every student to thrive, build confidence, and develop a lifelong love for learning.
Our Dedicated Faculties
- Individual Needs (IN) Faculty: A specialised team that develops personalised learning plans, providing targeted support, tailored resources, and curriculum adjustments to meet the unique needs of every student.
- English for Academic Purposes (EAP) Faculty: Dedicated specialists who support students taking English as an Additional and Academic Language. The team offers integrated in-class assistance, targeted support, and discrete lessons.
How We Support Student Growth
- Collaborative Teaching: Our specialist faculties work hand-in-hand with subject and pastoral teachers to integrate strategies that accommodate diverse learning styles and abilities.
- Post-16 IB Support (Years 12–13): During the upper school years, our teams offer a dedicated IB Support Programme, guiding students through the rigours of Post-16 study to help them reach their potential and prepare confidently for their future steps.
Through these initiatives, we empower every student to achieve their fullest potential and succeed on their own unique journey.
