Quoi de neuf cette semaine? It’s Francophonie Week at West Island School, and our students are fully immersed in activities celebrating French‑speaking cultures.
Through games, workshops, crêpe‑making, movie screenings, and singing, they are developing their communication skills, creativity, collaboration and cultural awareness while discovering fun ways of learning a language. @francophonie_hk
Last Saturday, our campus was buzzing with energy as we welcomed students, families, alumni and the wider ESF community to our annual WIS Bazaar. It was a joy to see everyone come together for a fantastic family day filled with laughter, connection and school spirit. The atmosphere was truly electric, reminding us of the incredible bond we share across the ESF network.
The day was a spectacular showcase of our students’ diverse talents and entrepreneurial spirit. A huge well done to our gifted musicians and dancers for their high-energy performances, and a special congratulations to our student filmmakers who screened their original movies for the school community. We were also delighted to welcome students from @esfkennedyschool , who joined us on stage to help spread joy and excitement throughout the day.
Beyond the stage, our students took the lead in the bustling marketplace. The student-led booths were a major highlight, showcasing impressive creativity, teamwork, and leadership. From interactive games and innovative crafts to thoughtful service-led initiatives, these booths added a unique and vibrant layer to the Bazaar, demonstrating the passion and initiative our students bring to every project.
Our Technology Faculty and Visual Arts Department were also open to the community, offering a wonderful glimpse into the creative and technical work happening in our classrooms. The conversations between students, parents and teachers were truly inspiring, sparking curiosity and providing a meaningful platform to share the learning journey. Seeing our community engage so deeply with these creative spaces was a testament to the inquisitive spirit of West Island School.
An event of this scale would not be possible without the immense dedication of our Parent-Teacher Association (PTA). A heartfelt thank you goes out to the PTA Committee and our tireless parent and staff volunteers who worked behind the scenes to bring this wonderful event to life. Their commitment is the driving force of our community, and we are so grateful for everything they do to make WIS such a vibrant place to learn and grow.
Join us in the auditorium for an exciting lineup of performances that highlight our students’ creativity and passion:
The event will conclude with a community African Drumming Experience starting at 2.30pm.
Please find the ticketing link in bio. See you on Saturday.
Our Visual Arts space is the perfect creative hub for open-minded inquirers and risk-takers. Students from all year groups bring a shared passion to build community, show compassion, and find the courage to explore their purpose through the grace of art.
Our dedicated teachers and staff are here to help every student realise their potential. Whether you are starting a fresh project or continuing an unfinished piece, we look forward to seeing you back in the studio tomorrow.
From athletic strength and sportsmanship to the unbeatable bond between students and staff, our Sports Day truly brought our values of Community, Compassion and Courage to life.
Check out this video for a recap of the amazing atmosphere.
🐎 Roaring into the Year of the Horse! 🧨
